FOS-2510 Forensic Aspects of Death Investigation

A study of the medico-legal examination of death scenes by the medical examiner and other death investigators. Emphasis is on autopsy procedures, post-mortem changes, unidentified remains, injuries and investigative techniques.
Prerequisite(s): FOS-2500  
Course Outcomes
 

  1. Discuss the roles and responsibilities of the personnel involved in death investigations.
  2. Analyze the death scene protocol and the differences between the coroner and medical examiner death investigation systems.
  3. Analyze the various causes, manners and mechanisms of death. 
  4. Evaluate the various types of trauma and disease that cause death.
