FOS-2530 Fire and Arson Investigation

A study of the practical approach to basic fire scene investigation. Emphasis is on fire behavior, building construction, the scientific method, origin and cause determination and legal aspects of the fire scene.
Prerequisite(s): FOS-2500  
Course Outcomes
 

  1. Evaluate the methodology used in fire scene examination.
  2. Analyze the chemistry, behavior, origin and causes of fires.
  3. Apply the scientific method to a variety of fire scenes.
  4. Analyze legal issues related to fire investigations and the preparation and procedures for testifying in court as an expert witness.
