HLE-2300 Integrated Health and Physical Education

This course focuses on aspects of health and physical education that are critical to personal wellness and professional practice.   Course topics include the following:  health information, physical activity, self-assessment, action planning, and disease prevention all with application to the learning environment.  This course meets the outcomes required for the degree of Associate of Arts in Teaching.
Course Outcomes
 

  1.  Identify wellness concepts and how they impact lifestyles
  2. Compare and contrast health information and products, taking into account influence of culture, media and technology.
  3. Develop a health action plan including the health related components of fitness, nutrition and stress management
  4. Apply strategies for resolving conflicts and developing and maintaining positive interpersonal relationships
  5. Assess safety and environmental factors that promote individual and community health
