INT-1800 Internet and Web Technology


Credits 3
Provides an overview of the Internet and the major applications, relevant standards and protocols, and ethical issues associated with it. Students will learn to develop a website using storyboarding techniques and HTML and manage it via FTP. Hands-on projects that utilize new and emerging communication technologies will be explored.
Prerequisite(s): Reading proficiency; INT-1010  recommended.
Formerly Formerly offered as CIS 1800. Students may not receive credit for both CIS 1800 and INT 1800.
2 class/2 lab hours.

Course Outcomes
  1. Create web pages that conform to WC3 HTML standard.
  2. Use HTML anchor link, image, list, text formatting, mailto and form tags in documents.
  3. Use WC3 Cascade Style Sheet (CCS) standard in web development.
  4. Use multimedia (audio, video and animation graphics) in web site development.
  5. Design site organization and use relative path in development.
  6. Test and validate site contents with different web browsers.
  7. Create web documents using a text editor, a code editor and an HTML editor.
  8. Use File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to upload/download documents to a web server.
  9. Publish a web site.
