MAT-1360 Precalculus Part II Credits 4 This course is the second part of a two semester sequence intended as preparation for calculus for students who are majoring in a scientific or technical field. Topics include trigonometric functions using the unit circle approach, analytic trigonometry, and oblique triangles and applications. Additional topics necessary for calculus include introduction to polar coordinate system, vectors, parametric equations, solving systems of equations, and sequences and summation. Problems are solved through analytical and graphical approaches. Prerequisite(s): Appropriate mathematics placement, or completion of MAT-1350 with a grade of C or higher. 4 class Course Outcomes
- Analyze equations and their graphs, including trigonometric functions.
- Perform operations on expressions and simplify results, including trigonometric, polar and vector expressions.
- Perform operations on functions and simplify results, including trigonometric functions, and sequences.
- Solve equations and verify solutions, including trigonometric equations and systems of equations.
- Solve application problems, including trigonometric applications.
