HUS-2040 Introduction to Social Work

This course introduces the social work profession and interweaves contemporary themes of strength, human rights, and social justices.
Prerequisite(s): SOC-1010  or PSY-1010  or POS-1010  or ANT-1010 .

Course Outcomes
  1. Apply major concepts, theories, and perspectives related to social work.
  2. Evaluate research methods and tools used to understand an explain behavior and social work intervention methods.
  3. Apply critical thinking and ethics in addressing personal, social and organizational issues and research related to social work.
  4. Discuss the influence of culture on social structure and social intervention.
  5. Interpret research relating to social work and social problems collaboratively in groups.
  6. Utilize proficiency in information literacy as it applies to social work.
