This course introduces the theories that provide individuals, groups, and communities the information and the skills needed to make quality health decisions.  Foundational principles and theories of health education are presented as they apply to health promotion and health promotion programs. The role of health educators is explored.  Emphasis is on current and future health education issues.
Course Outcomes
  1. Explain the importance of health at the individual, group and community levels.
  2. Compare/contrast the foundational principles of health.
  3. Summarize the roles and functions of a health educator.
  4. Categorized the theories of health promotion programs.
  5. Evaluate different sources of health information for validity and reliability.
  6. Recognize innovative and future health education issues.
