PMD-1100 Paramedic Clinical Experience II Credits 4 Supervised experience is provided in the hospital, field, and specialty areas, correlating with knowledge, skills, and techniques presented in PMD-1000 , PMD-1010 , PMD-1020 , PMD-1030 , PMD-2010 , and PMD-2030 . Emphasis is placed on patient assessment, cardiac and respiratory emergencies, special patient populations, and shock and trauma. Prerequisite(s): PMD-1000, PMD-1010, PMD-1020, and PMD-1050 Corequisite(s): PMD-1030, PMD-2010, and PMD-2030 16 clinical hours/week. Course Outcomes
- Demonstrate methods of assessment and management of a patient with a medical emergency, including identification and significance of pathophysiological assessment findings, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards.
- Demonstrate assessment and management of a patient with a medical emergency, including advanced airway placement and management; establishment of vascular access; medication administration; and, operation of current standard patient monitoring devices, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards.
- Identify indications, contraindications, side effects, and responses associated with the application of patient care processes, including advanced airway placement and management; establishment of vascular access; medication administration; and, operation of current standard patient monitoring devices, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards.
- Perform documentation of patient assessment and management, as it relates to the application of clinical skills, including the associated data entry.
- Disseminate patient information in verbal form, either in person or through radio/phone communication, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards.
