Program Description
This certificate program is designed for persons who desire to enter the accounting field in government and private industry. Graduates will be prepared to function in entry level accounting positions or may meet the requirements to enter into the governmental accounting series. Through their coursework, students will learn how to process financial transactions, prepare financial statements and develop a general understanding of internal control process. Many of the courses in this program can be used as part of the Accounting Professional A.A.S program. Students planning pursue the A.A.S degree should work closely with the department chair to meet the requirements of the program.
Program Outcomes
Graduates of the Accounting Certificate will be able to:
- Process financial transactions through the accounting cycle in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Evaluate internal control processes
- Identify basic legal concepts and the impacts on business operations
